Alan Feldstein Board Member

After decades as a lawyer, Alan’s passion for adventure and nature eventually lead him to found his own African safari company, Infinite Safari Adventures. Alan runs Infinite Safari Adventures with a strong social and environmental ethic and also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Cheetah Conservation Fund as well as the Board of Advisors for Over & Above Africa. When he is not traveling, he enjoys time as a sea kayak instructor at UC Los Angeles.

Elizabeth Andrews Treasurer of the Board

Elizabeth grew up in Santa Cruz, California and has spent over 25 years teaching math, science, and personal finance to K-12 students. She is currently an administrator at Pacific Elementary School in Santa Cruz County, but spends her summers instructing internationally for the Center for Talented Youth program out of Johns Hopkins University. In addition to her time teaching, Elizabeth spent 14 years as a test developer for K-12 students.

Kevin Condon Executive Director, interim President of the Board

Kevin is a co-founder of BSP and serves as the Executive Director, holding the vision and ensuring that the organization meets its mission on a daily basis. Kevin completed his bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Cruz and his career has consisted of a mixture of outdoor recreation leadership, outdoor education, and field ecology. He has served as Director of the UCSC Wilderness Orientation, in addition to two years as teaching assistant for Natural History Field Quarter, and two seasons as a field science technician.

Mike Bolte Secretary of the Board

Mike is a professor of astronomy at UC Santa Cruz as well as the Emeritus Director of UC Observatories. So what’s he doing on BSP’s Board? See for yourself! Mike is a birder and wildlife photographer. Though he has years of experience raising financial support for observatories and telescopes, he also has the lens of a naturalist and educator.

Darrow Feldstein

Darrow has taught seasonally for a variety of nature education programs including the Natural History Field Quarter and Wilderness Orientation program at UC Santa Cruz. He has also worked as an assistant reserve steward for the UCSC Upper Campus Natural Reserve and in Yosemite National Park as a field biologist studying the alpine habitats of Sierra Bighorn Sheep and American Pikas and the populations of California Spotted Owls and Great Gray Owls.

Jeff Manker

Jeff is a former high school science teacher and holds the honor of having developed and taught on of the only high school ornithology classes in the nation. He is an inspiring educator and a real adventurer, having traveled internationally multiple times to volunteer on science projects during his off time. In addition to serving on our board, Jeff has been invited to serve as an advisor for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. He is helping to write birding curriculum for secondary school students.
